there was a night this summer that i felt terribly alone. i was afraid. i was being brave, of course, and didn't open my door to the hallway full of friends. mind you, this was past curfew, so no one should have been awake. however, i was awake. i started to write......
the words came and calmed my heart as I extolled my Heavenly Father for His unmatched goodness and faithfulness, strength and beauty. As I wrote, I was reminded that nothing can be too great a sin, a foothold, a burden, a lie, a fear or anything else... absolutely nothing could be too great for Him to overcome.
then I arrived back in Toronto and started a bible study with some of the most remarkable women I've known, and as we studied the week of/before Thanksgiving in the first chapter of Ephesians (vv.18-23)... I was brought back to the words written one dark, lonely night at camp....
"having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know (understand) what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power towards those who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named...."
this song rings true. when i sing it, i'm reminded of the great works Jesus performed on earth, the goodness of the Father who sent Him and the faithfulness of the Holy Spirit, who is the great Helper, and who walks our journey with us.

water you turned into wine
opened the eyes of the blind
there's no one like you
none like You
into the darkness you shine
out of the ashes we rise
there's no one like You
none like You
our God is greater
our God is stronger
God you are higher than any other
our God is healer
awesome in power
our God, our God
and if our God is for us, then who could ever stop us?
and if our God is with us, then what could stand against?
